CHADRON – SWANN, the Solid Waste Agency of Northwest Nebraska, has its regular quarterly board meeting tonight at 7:00, but the meeting location will be a bit unusual – at least for SWANN.
The meetings are normally held in the Chadron City Hall, but the city has closed all of its buildings to public meetings being held by anyone other than the city because of coronavirus outbreak.
Rather than look for a new site, SWANN is taking advantage of another virus-inspired change.
Governor Pete Ricketts has eased the state’s open meeting laws to allow public bodies to conduct their meetings by teleconference, video conference, and similar methods as long as the public can monitor.
Executive director Jack Nemeth says SWANN has decide to conduct tonight’s meeting via Zoom, described as the leader in modern enterprise video communications.
