Telemarking Campaign Pressuring Impeachment Panel

Loading

The South Dakota House special committee weighing impeachment charges against State Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg says it’s being pressured to impeach him by a telemarketing campaign.

House Speaker and committee member Spencer Gosch says a telemarketing company this week has been calling South Dakota residents and transferring the calls to members of the committee to try to influence its decision.

The panel is sifting through the investigation into the Sept 2020 crash accident in which Ravnsborg struck and killed a man walking near a rural highway.

Governor Kristi Noem has pushed hard for impeachment ever since Ravnsborg refused to resign, but told a news conference Thursday that she doesn’t know anything about the telemarketing calls other than what Gosch told her.
