(AP) – South Dakota authorities say a Brookings man was killed Saturday afternoon in a skiing accident near Lead at Terry Peak. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Trenton Hofer died around 3:30 p.m.when he hit a tree on the resort’s Gold Run. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Terry Peak spokeswoman Linda Derosier says management and staff of the resort send their sincere condolences to Hofer’s family and friendsIronically, Hofer’s death came just before Terry Peak joined the National Ski Areas Association’s #RideAnotherDay campaign, which encourages skiers and snowboarders to slow down and be ready to avoid objects and people.
