The Nutcracker Ballet Returns To Chadron

CHADRON – The Nutcracker, the most-performed ballet in the world and likely the best-known by the general public, returns to Chadron this afternoon as the Consuming Fire Dance Theater brings its production to the Memorial Hall Auditorium stage at 2:00.

Consuming Fire owner and instructor Donna Gimeson puts on the Nutcracker every 3 years. She says one reason it’s so widely produced by dance schools is that it has roles for dancers of all ages and levels of experience.

Gimeson thinks many people don’t attend the ballet because they think they won’t understand what’s happening on the stage because there’s no dialog. She’s addressing that concern today by including the story of the ballet in the program and projecting subtitles behind the dancers.

Advance sale tickets available downtown at Consuming Fire are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12 while general seating at the door is $2 higher.
