     One of the most anticipated events of this weekend’s Fur Trade Days celebration in Chadron has been canceled because of the weather.
Fur Trade Days spokesman Tori Wild says Friday night’s Fireworks show has been scrapped because of the threat of fire.
Wild says organizers discussed the situation with Chadron Fire Chief Brandon Martens and agreed with his conclusion that the fire danger was just too great to hold the show.
She also says Fur Trade Days hopes to reschedule the fireworks show for later in the year. The bulk of the funding for the event came from Southern Airways, which donated $5,000.
