Thunderstorm Delays, But Doesn’t Stop Bands On Bordeaux

Loading

Rain delayed but did not stop this summer’s first Bands on Bordeaux concert Thursday night in Chadron after a thunderstorm dumped about a half-inch of rain downtown less than an hour before the 6:00 start of the concert with the Devon Worley Band.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gabby Michna says organizers were confident the rain would end and it did, but it was about 7:00 before the band was finally able to get set up and start playing.

Michna says attendance was good – actually excellent given the circumstances – and enthusiastic.

The band almost missed the gig for a reason unrelated to the weather – their truck broke down earlier in the day en route to Chadron.

A delivery truck from Home Haven Furniture and Appliance was sent to transport the band’s gear while the musicians were driven in a roomy pickup provided by a local bank.

Ironically, the Devon Worley Band was picked to open this year’s concert series because they were the last performers last year, but had to play in the Nelson PAC at Chadron State College because of another thunderstorm.
