Virtual Online Meetings Tuesday On Panhandle COVID-19 Preparation

SCOTTSBLUFF – The agencies in charge of the Panhandle’s response to COVID-19, the coronavirus disease, are holding a pair of virtual online meetings Tuesday.

The Panhandle Public Health District, Scotts Bluff County Health District, and the 3 Emergency Management Regions – 21, 22, and 23 – activated a Unified Command a week ago Friday with a joint information center to provide communication.

Panhandle Public Health District Director Kim Engel says the Unified Command has been meeting weekly with hospital staff around the region while reaching out to assist the planning efforts of partners that include hospitals, clinics, schools, first responders, child care, business, faith-based communities, and other

Those partners are the target audience for Tuesday’s virtual meeting, but members of the public are invited to take part as well. The first meeting will begin at 11:00 with a focuse on community and faith-based leaders. You can obtain the link by emailing

Engle says the Unified Command is also offering weekly virtual meetings for schools and childcare providers, adding that the Unified Command team continues to receive the most recent information and recommendations from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
