Weather Cuts “Bands On Bordeaux” Short

Chadron’s third Bands on Bordeaux concert was about an hour shorter than planned Thursday night because of the weather.

Performers Joey Leone and Chop Shop were on a scheduled break a little before 8:00 when a nearby thunderstorm brought a very light sprinkle of rain, winds gusting to near 40 mph, and lighting around the outskirts of Chadron.

Chamber of Commerce spokesman John Morford says with weather forecasts indicating those conditions would continue for most of the final hour of the concert, the decision was made to close down for everyone’s safety.

Morford says having to end early was even more disappointing because there was a good crowd despite temperatures in the mid-90s and because everyone was enjoying the band, the vendors, and the rest of the Bands on Bordeaux experience.

There are 2 Bands on Bordeaux concerts left: next Thursday with Nathan Dean and the Damn Band and the Encore Show August 19 with the Devon Worely Band.
