Wireless World In Chadron Temporarily Closed By COVID-19 CasePosted by John AxtellDate: August 30, 2020 1:37 pmLeave a comment143 Views Dawes County could be looking at another uptick in coronavirus cases in the next 2 weeks with word Friday that an employee at Wireless World in Chadron was confirmed as positive. The positive worker is self-isolating wile 5 co-workers are self-quarantining as close contacts. The infected employee worked at the store from 11:30-8:00 on Tuesday and noon to 8:30 on both Wednesday and Thursday. All customers at Wireless World during those times are asked to monitor for symptoms and get tested if they feel any signs of illness. Wireless World has been closed since Friday, but reopens Monday with staff from another location. It will be appointment-only with limited hours of 10:00-6:00. Wireless World District Manager Marcus Malcom says the company is working closely with health officials to mitigate any further risk, adding that its plan for continuity will still assist customers in the meanwhile and keep employees and customers safe and healthy. Panhandle Unified Command doesn’t update its numbers between Friday and Monday, so Dawes County still stands at 79 cases, 55 recoveries, and 24 active cases while the Panhandle count remains 623 cases, 522 recoveries, 6 deaths and 95 active cases, including 9 hospitalizations. Statewide, the number of active COVID-19 cases dropped by 93 on Saturday. Nebraska Health and Human Services reported another 445 recoveries and just 307 new cases, resulting in 7,701 active cases. There were no new deaths, leaving that total at 392. Nebraska has now had 33,753 COVID-19 cases with 25,727 recoveries. There are currently 172 individuals hospitalized with 35% of all hospital beds, 32% of ICU beds, and 84% of respirators remaining available.
