WNCC President Resigns

Loading

Western Nebraska Community College President Dr Carmen Simone has resigned after only about 18 months in the job.

She offered her resignation, effective immediately, on Friday and the College Board of Governors will act on it during their regular meeting on Wednesday.

Simone interviewed last week for the presidency of Blue Mountain Community College in northeast Oregon, but there’s been no indication whether that’s related to her resignation.

The Blue Mountain presidential search committee will make a recommendation to the school’s board on its top pick later this month with a final decision expected in July.

WNCC Board Chair Lynne Klemke says the board and school “thanks Dr. Simone for her service to the students and communities of the WNCC service area,” with the board wishing her “every success in her future endeavors.”

Vice President of Educational Services Dr Grant Wilson will be acting president until an interim is named. The search process will also be discussed at Wednesday’s board meeting
