Work has begun at Chadron State Park to resurface its 5.6-miles of asphalt roads, campsites and other pavement.
Superintendent Gregg Galbraith says crews from Simon Construction should be done by the opening of the park’s summer activities Memorial Day weekend and definitely by its centennial celebration June 11-12.
Galbraith says the work may limit accessibility to some parts of Chadron State Park, but the roads will be much more enjoyable to drive with the resurfacing.
The project schedule calls for 5 days of milling, 3 days of patching, 10 days of paving, and 2 days of painting. It’s being paid for through the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Recreation Road Fund.
