Wyo Confirms First Case of UK COVID-19 Variant

Health officials in Wyoming have confirmed the state’s first case of the more contagious COVID-19 variant that’s been seen in the United Kingdom.

State and local health officials said a Teton County man tested positive for the variant COVID-19 virus strain, and he’s believed to have been exposed locally.

State health officer and epidemiologist Dr. Alexia Harrist says the arrival of the strain in Wyoming is not a surprise, but is concerning because it’s more easily transmissible.

She says Wyoming residents should wear masks, practice social distancing, avoid large gatherings and stay at home when ill unless seeking medical care at least until they’re vaccinated
