There are 1,104 personnel working the fire. Incident Commander Michael Haydon says Sunday was an active day for fire crews, as had been expected based on weather forecasts. Crews continued burnouts to establish or strengthen containment lines on the north flank above the Savage Run Wilderness as well as in the Keystone and Sawmill Park areas. Evacuations remain in effect for 8 communities and a number of other areas with homes or cabins. Parts of 3 national forests and 2 national grasslands are currently closed because of the fire. The number of structures known to be lost to the fire hasn’t changed since Tuesday and remains at 60, including 29 residences, but crews have yet to access large parts of the burn area.. The Mullen Fire began on the 17th from a still undetermined cause and continues to burn mostly in extremely rugged terrain with dense vegetation and much beetle-killed standing and deadfall timber.
