Wyo’s Gordon Announces Reelection Bid

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon says he’s running for a second term. He made the announcement Monday in Buffalo.

No other Republicans have filed and the Democrats have not yet announced a candidate for the August primary.

Gordon’s first term included managing the COVID-19 pandemic and a loss of state revenue due to a decline in oil and gas production that led to deep budget cuts.

He angered many Wyoming residents with a statewide mask mandate during a COVID-19 spike in Dec 2020, but lifted it 4 months later and promised not to implement another one.

Gordon did not mandate vaccines, but did encourage both using masks and getting vaccinated..
