South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has picked her next Chief of Staff. Aaron Scheibe takes over May 1st from Tony Venhuizen, named by Noem earlier this week to the South Dakota Board of Regents.
Scheibe, a South Dakota native and graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is an attorney in private practice but was a senior policy advisor for Noem during her first year in office.
Before that, he was Deputy Commissioner of the Gov’s Office of Economic Development for 5 years and a staffer at the U-S State Department.
He had assignments at embassies in the former Soviet Union and in various offices in Washington, DC, serving under 2 Secretaries of State.
Scheibe says he’s honored Noem has asked him to rejoin her at what he calls “this critical time” and looks forward to working with her and others to ensure that the state remains an example of responsible and responsive government
