Noem Names Venhuizen As Chief Of Staff Posted by John Axtell Date: March 03, 2020 4 Views PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has named a veteran advisor as her new Chief of Staff. Attorney Tony Venhuizen of Sioux Falls has been working with the governor’s office on a temporary basis for some time. A former member of the South Dakota Board of Regents, Venhuizen was Chief of Staff to Noem’s predecessor Dennis Daugaard and has been a senior advisor to Noem since the transition between the administrations. Noem says Venhuizen brings “a unique set of skills” to her team with his tenure and wealth of historical knowledge, so she’s thrilled he’s once again “answered the call to public service in the name of the great people of South Dakota.” Venhuizen says he’s honored to be chosen, calling Noem “an energetic and forward-thinking leader” and saying he’s excited to work with her and the rest of her team. Venhuizen is a native of Armour, SD, and holds degrees from the state’s two large universities – having earned a bachelor’s in History and Political Science from South Dakota State and his law degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law.
