Noem Plans Infrastructure Projects For Federal COVID Stimulus Funds

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says she is planning to focus on water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure projects when the state starts spending nearly $1 billion dollars in federal COVID-19 stimulus funds.

South Dakota will get $974.5-million over the next year and a half to help towns and cities recover from the coronavirus pandemic, and Noem says the state has “broad flexibility” in using the money.

Noem has praised her administration’s frugality in producing a budget surplus last year – a period that saw South Dakota receive over $4.8-billion dollars in federal relief funds, a windfall that nearly matches the state’s annual budget.
