South Dakota Gov Kristi Noem says she’ll provide an update today on the investigation into the Sept 12 fatal traffic accident in which state Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg hit and killed a pedestrian.
Secretary of Public Safety Craig Price has been overseeing the investigation into the death of 55-year-old Joseph Boever in south-central South Dakota a mile west of Highmore, but has released no details.
Ravnsborg said he was returning to Pierre from a Republican fundraiser in Redfield when he thought he’d hit a deer on Hwy 14 about 10:30 pm. He said he stopped, called 911, and searched the area with Hyde County Sheriff Mike Volek, but found nothing.
Ravnsborg continued home a borrowed vehicle, then stopped at the accident scene again the next morning returning the vehicle and found Boever’s body in a ditch.
