CHADRON – Nebraska Public Power District says a phone scam is targeting some of its customers in the Chadron and Scottsbluff areas, telling them their accounts were delinquent and would have their power turned off without quick payment
NPPD’s Grant Otten says no one has fallen victim, but several customers told the utility they were very close to giving money to the scammers before realizing it was a scam.
Otten says some of the intended targets were told there was an error with their payment information and they needed to give the caller the correct information in order to fix the problem.
