YORK, Neb. (AP) – Nebraska State Patrol Troopers on Tuesday afternoon recovered two Michigan children who had been reported missing and potentially endangered. The children were found safe at a gas station while traveling with their parents on Interstate 80 near York.

The State Patrol had received information from Battle Creek, Michigan, police on 9-year old Karley Dunkelberger and 7-year old Bentley Dunkelberger after an Endangered Missing Alert had been issued in Colorado last week.

The children’s mother, 37-year old Rebecca Dunkelberger of Battle Creek, was arrested for outstanding warrants while their father, Dennis Dunkelberger, was released. The children were placed with the Nebraska Dept of Health and Human Services for return to the proper authorities in Michigan.
