NY Truck Driver Arrested In Chappell-Area Crash That Killed Scottsbluff Woman

      An East Coast truck driver is in custody following a Saturday night accident on Interstate 80 about 2 miles west of Chappell that killed a Scottsbluff woman.

     30-year-old Alinder Singh of Bellerose, NY, was arrested for motor vehicle homicide and careless driving after his semi hit a van from behind, killing 55-year-old Harolene Rodriguez, a passenger in the van.

     The Nebraska State Patrol says 43-year-old Leopoldo Rodriguez was westbound about 11:15 when his van was rear-ended by Singh.

      Haroldene Rodriguez was the front-seat passenger and was ejected by the impact. She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

       Leopoldo Rodriguez and 2 children in the rear seat were transported to Sidney Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Singh was not injured and was lodged in the Cheyenne County Jail. The crash remains under investigation.
