The U.S. Marshall’s Service says officers in Georgia shot and killed an 18-year-old suspect in a Nebraska homicide on Tuesday.
The Marshall’s Service in Omaha confirmed that Jaquan Haynes died in a shootout with officers trying to serve a warrant for 1st-degree murder on him at a home in Atlanta.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said a man, later identified as Haynes, shot at agents from a fugitive task force. The agents returned fire and fatally wounded him.
Haynes was wanted in the October death of 19-year-old Nomi Herrera, who was found sitting in the driver’s seat of her car with a gunshot wound in the back of the head.
Her father has said that Herrera, a certified nursing assistant, was on her way to pick up a friend for a double date.
A 15-year old girl, Khaleaha Titsworth-Hunt of Omaha, has been charged with being an accessory to 1st-degree murder in the case.
