Omaha Schools Remote Learning-Only First Semester, No Sports Posted by John Axtell Date: August 10, 2020 4 Views OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Schools in the Omaha district will start the new year later this month with all remote learning and no sports because of the coronavirus pandemic. The first day of school has also been pushed back a week to Tuesday the 18th. The district had planned to start with a system that split all grades into 2 groups of students that would each be in class 2 days a week and use remote learning the other days, but Supt Cheryl Logan said Friday on the district’s website that the threat of the virus is too great. Logan says the all-remote learning plan will be in place for at least the first quarter of the school year to ensure the safety of students, teachers and staff.
