Over 9,000 Active COVID-19 Cases In SD; State Matches Single-Day Death Toll

  The number of active COVID-19 cases in South Dakota has passed 9,000 while the state matched its one-day high in COVID-19 deaths with 14.

      The disease is responsible for 347 total deaths in South Dakota, including 124 in October with over a week left to go in the month. The previous monthly record was 56 just last month.

        The state health dept reported 948 new confirmed cases on Thursday with 374 recoveries, pushing up the number of active cases by nearly 600 to 9,273 – including 355 who are hospitalized. 35% of hospital beds and 36% of ICU beds are still available.

       The total number of confirmed cases stands at 34,97. There have been 26,023 recoveries since the pandemic began.
