Owen Palm Elected Board Chairman Of Platte Institute

OMAHA – 21st Century Equipment President and CEO Owen Palm of Gering has been elected chairman of the board of the conservative-leaning Platte Institute think tank.

The nonprofit board has ten members representing different areas of Nebraska and serving 3-year terms that may be renewed. Palm has been a board member since 2014.

Platte Institute CEO Jim Vokal says Palm has worked tirelessly alongside outgoing board president Gail Werner-Robertson to transform the organization during a time of major growth and accomplishment.

Vokal says Palm’s experience as a small business owner in an ag-based community gives him a strong personal connection to the Institute’s mission and will be a tremendous successor.

Palm says his “involvement in civic life in Nebraska is focused on bridging the gaps between Scottsbluff and Omaha, and making our state a more welcoming, and great place to do business.”

Palm also says he believes the team at the Platte Institute has a mission and message that is needed now more than ever because COVID-19 is impacting the way all Nebraska live and work – which means individuals and business are going to need the chance to reignite provided by the Institute.

Palm is co-chair of Blueprint Nebraska and has held board and leadership positions with the Nebraska Dept of Natural Resources, the Nebraska chapter of The Nature Conservancy, Twin Cities Development, Chadron State College Foundation, and the Scotts Bluff Area Family YMCA.
