
The Panhandle has recorded its second COVID-19 death in less than a week and its 8th overall.
Panhandle Unified Command says all 8 were Scotts Bluff County residents with pre-existing health conditions.
Unified Command reported 11 new cases and 8 recoveries on Tuesday for totals of 767 cases, 674 recoveries, and 8 deaths. There are 85 active cases including 6 who are hospitalized.
Dawes County added 1 case and 8 recoveries with 12 active cases. Chadron State College had one new confirmed case and one recovery on Monday, giving the school 45 cases and 43 recoveries. One student and one employee remain active cases.
All 14 COVID-19 cases among Chadron Public Schools students and staff have now recovered, but there are still 4 individuals in quarantine after possible or confirmed contact with positive cases.
Statewide, Nebraska added 328 new cases, 202 recoveries and 1 death on Tuesday, jumping the number of active cases to 8,635 including 167 who are hospitalized.
The state now has 38,970 total cases, 436 deaths, and 29,799 recoveries. 34% of all hospital beds remain available along with 33% of ICU beds and 81 of ventilators.
