Patricia (Pat) Ann Bauerkemper was born to Simon and Emma (Applehans) Behm January 16, 1939 in Sterling, CO, and passed away peacefully at Monument Medical Center in Rapid City, SD.

Her family moved to Sidney, NE, when Pat was 7 and she attended St. Patrick’s Academy, where she graduated in 1957.

Pat married the love of her life, Robert Bauerkemper, Jan 7th, 1961 in Sidney at St. Patrick’s Church.

She worked in banking in Sidney and Scottsbluff NE, before the Bauerkemper family moved to Chadron in Feb of 1968 with three small children ages 2, 3 and 5 in tow.

Pat and Bob started Bauerkemper’s Inc I Chadron and worked together over 30 years before taking time off in Arizona during the winter months. It was in Arizona where Pat blossomed! She started taking pottery and painting classes that she thoroughly enjoyed. We are all benefactors of her beautiful artwork.

She also volunteered in Chadron at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Chadron Community Hospital Hospice program while also serving as secretary for several organizations.

Pat loved being the family spectator and camera person at all the Bauerkemper sporting and motorcycle events (and there were many). She was a trooper!)

She loved making food for the shop guys, including pots of soup, runza burgers and chocolate cake, affectionately known as “Patty Cake”. She was also an avid reader.

She was a kind soul who spread her love and generosity to others even when they didn’t know it.

Most of all, Pat loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She used to say “lucky me” with a smile.

She was preceded in death by Robert, her husband of 56 years.

Pat is survived by her children Steve (Dana Lowell-jahn) Bauerkemper of Lincoln, Linda (Trish Lortz) Bauerkemper of Papillion, and David (Diana) Bauerkemper of Chadron. Grandchildren Nichole (Trevor) Baer of Lincoln, Paige (Dane) Armstrong of Chadron, Brenton (Heather) Bauerkemper of Chadron. Great grandchildren Macy, Millie and Ava Baer. Brother Jim (Sandy) Behm of Anchorage, AL, sisters Thelma Moore of Georgetown, Texas, Joyce (Bernard) Ford of Orange Park. FL, and Judy Abrams of Sidney
