Funeral services for 73-year old Philomine Lakota will be Sunday, September 6, 2020 at sunrise at the Lakota residence on Lakeside near Oglala, SD, with Ikce Wicasa (Family, Relatives, & Friends) officiating.

Burial services are at the Lakota Family Cemetery, Lakeside-Oglala, SD

A one-wake service starts at 5:00 PM, Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 5:00 PM, also at the Lakota residence on Lakeside near Oglala, SD.

Philomine Neva Lakota, “Tunweya Waste Win”, was born on December 16, 1946 in Pine Ridge, SD to Max Blacksmith and Hazel (Wounded Horse) Black Smith.  Philomine made her journey to the Spirit World on August 30, 2020 at her home near Oglala, SD.

Philomine is survived by her daughter, Muriel Lakota “Wicahpi Isnala Win”; sons, Aaron Lakota “Sunkamanitu Ho Waste”, Teton Lakota, Sr. “Mato Can Igna Iya”, and Vance Blacksmith, “Pte Ole Hoksila”; siblings, Vastana Red Ear Horse, Christine Lajtay, and Fleeta Two Bulls; grandchildren, Haley Lakota, Tunweya Weller, NuVassie Blacksmith, Amber Weiler, Samaya Blacksmith, Isabella Lakota, Kandi Weiler, Christian Lakota, Tyree Weller, and Teton Lakota, Jr.; and great grandchildren, Prasayus Lakota and Michaela Hawk.

Philomine was preceded in death by her parents, Max Blacksmith “Kagi Sni Inyanka” and Hazel Wounded Horse-Blacksmith “Tawacin Waste Win”; husband, Zachary Lakota “Cetan Akicita”; brother, Aloysius Blacksmith; sisters, Lorna Blacksmith, Melvina Backs, and Mercy Slow Bear; and brothers, Eugene Red Ear Horse and Steven Red Ear Horse, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Sam O’Rourke, Clyde Little, Isaac Weston, Hinhan Loud Hawk, Marlen Kelly, Delane Blacksmith, Hunter Blacksmith, MJ Swan, Todd Johns, Hermas Red Horse, Leon Lakota III, Tom Thunder Hawk, Brandon Brave Heart, Buddy Fast Wolf, and Myles Marshall.
