Potter-Dix Wins Five-Set Fight Over Sioux CountyPosted by Kerri RemppDate: September 04, 2020108 ViewsThe Potter-Dix Coyotes earned a 3-2 win over Sioux County in five-set fight that handed the Warriors their first loss of the 2020 volleyball season Friday.Sioux County walked away with the first two sets, defeating the Coyotes 25-9 and 25-22. After Potter-Dix put up the first point of the contest, Sioux County took the lead with Kailey Klein at the serving line for the next 11 points. Kills by Karlee Juhnke, Tamika Eastman and Skylar Edmund kept Potter-Dix out of the game. The Warriors maintained the momentum in the second set, building a 13-6 lead. The Coyotes fought back to within three points before the Warriors again pulled away for a 22-15 edge. Potter-Dix managed to hold the Warriors at 24 for six plays before Sioux County finally put the set away.The Coyotes took the early lead in the third set and edged out the Warriors 25-19. Despite the Warriors’ efforts to tie the score six times they were never able to go ahead, allowing the Coyotes to force the fourth set. That set also went to Potter-Dix, but was even closer at 25-23 with seven ties, including at 22. Three ace serves by Beth Krein helped put Sioux County in position to win the set but the Coyotes held strong.Once again, the teams were evenly matched in the final set with five lead changes and nine ties, including at the all-important 15-point mark. The Warriors led early and were up by three, 10-7, when Potter-Dix managed a five-point run for a 12-10 lead. After that the competitors were tied at 13, 14 and 15 before the Coyotes were able to clinch the set and the game 17-15.
