The Panhandle Public Health District’s Covid-19 Risk Dial, after more than a month of falling or remaining steady, rose slightly this week – going from about a third of the way into the moderate or yellow category to about 2/3rds of the way through it at 1.63.
Panhandle Unified Command reported 14 new cases Tuesday, the first time the count has reached double-digits in several weeks, bringing the regional total to 8,950 including 49 in the last 14 days. 4 are hospitalized and the death toll remains 191.
Dawes County added 3 cases for a total of 743 with 8 in the last 14 days, while Chadron State College remains without any active cases.
Sheridan County had no new cases to remain at 510 with 7 in the last 14 days, Box Butte County added 1 – its first new case in the last 14 days – for 920 and Sioux remains, as it has for nearly 6 weeks, at 31 cases
Nebraska recorded 331 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Tuesday with 5 deaths and 46,562 active cases including 165 who are hospitalized. The state has had 214,682 total cases and 2,226 deaths
Nebraska has administered over 1.1-million doses of COVID vaccine to nearly 697,000 individuals, including nearly 25,000 in the Panhandle. Almost 454,000 of them, 29% of the state’s population over the age of 16, are now fully immunized
The South Dakota Dept of Health reported 191 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Tuesday with no deaths and 248 recoveries for 2,439 active cases, including 106 who are hospitalized. The state has had 105,725 confirmed cases and 1,947 deaths.
According to CDC data, 50.6% of South Dakotans have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine and 35.9% have completed the full vaccine series.
