A house fire early Saturday morning in the southeast Nebraska village of Filley that killed one person and critically injured 2 others is being blamed on a propane leak.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office says it’s not clear what caused the leak, but the house was “fully involved” when firefighters arrived.
Two individuals inside the house got out and were flown to a Lincoln hospital in critical condition, but first responders pronounced the third occupant dead at the scene.
The Gage County Attorney’s Office has ordered an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. Names are being withheld while relatives are notified.
