Provance Repeats As State Champion As Chadron High Finishes 6th As A Team

The Chadron High boys had a very good state track meet this year, returning home with one champion, 4 other medals, and a 6th place team finish – best of any Panhandle boys squad

Xander Provance successfully defended his 110 high hurdles crown, winning by .11 of a second, Malachi Swallow was 4th in the 300 intermediate hurdles, and Rhett Cullers was 4th in the highs and 6th in the intermediates.

The trio joined with Quinn Bailey to place 4th in the 4×100 relay with their fastest time of the season at 42.88, just .13 out of 2nd. Waverly won with a meet record 42.11.

The Cards failed to place in the 4×100 relay at the end of a long day, running nearly 4-½ seconds slower than their best, which would have put them 5th.

Also yesterday, Provance finished 20th in the LJ while Grace Pyle was one of 4 competitors in the girls HJ who failed to clear the opening height.

Provance was the only boys champion from the Panhandle, but there were 5 for the girls, including a pair of double-winners.

Gering’s Madison Seiler dominated the distance races, winning the 1600 and 3200 while finishing 2nd in the 800 and Sidney’s Karsyn Leeling won the HJ and TJ and was runner-up in the LJ. Sidney also got a title from Chloe Ahrens in the 100 HH.
