Rams Struggle With Bayard, Bridgeport

The Crawford Rams’ boys’ basketball team is 1-2 after dropping games to Bayard and Bridgeport over the weekend.

After opening the season last week with a win over Sioux County, the Rams fell to Bayard 55-31 Friday and suffered a 74-14 defeat Saturday against Bridgeport.

Bridgeport put up nearly 30 points in each quarter of the first half, while Crawford managed just eight points in the first quarter. Bridgeport added another 10 points after the break and capped the game with eight points in the final frame. The Rams, however, found the bucket just once in the third and twice in the fourth.

The Lady Rams fell to 0-3 with losses to the same teams. Bayard won the girls’ contest 48-37, while Bridgeport downed the Rams 75-25. Bridgeport scored in the double digits in all four quarters against the Lady Rams for a 45-12 half-time lead. After the break, Crawford also scored in the double digits, adding 13 to the board while Bridgeport racked up 14. The Lady Rams’ run was short-lived, however, as Bridgeport shut them out 16-0 in the final frame.
