A Mass of Christian burial for 76-year old Rayleen (Schommer) Billings will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 10 AM at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, NE, with Father Todd Philipsen officiating.
A vigil will be held Monday, September 28, 2020 at 7:00 PM, also at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Memorials in Rayleen’s name may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Shriners, or St Patrick’s Catholic Church. Donations can be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Rayleen was born October 6, 1943, in Chadron, Ne, the daughter of Raynold Benjamin and Velma Aleen (Asbury) Schommer. She died peacefully but unexpectedly September 22, 2020, at her home in Maricopa, AZ.
After attending and graduating from school in Chadron, Rayleen married Jack D Billings on August 13, 1962, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Having a ferocious love of learning, Rayleen raised her three children and then began her college career at Chadron State College ultimately achieving her Doctorate of Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Southern California in September of 2003. She then practiced in Chadron for many years, focusing her energy on women and children.
Rayleen was preceded in death by two sons, Troy and Cory Billings, parents Ray and Aleen Schommer, brother and sister Ben Schommer and Celia “Timmie” Hallsted.
Survivors include her husband Jack, Maricopa, AZ.; daughter and son-in-law Deb and John Worley, Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren Britanee Foster, Alyson Morris, Logan Almond and Jessica Brown, Tieme Billings; great-grandchildren Liam and Emma Morris, Charlotte Foster, Etta Almond and Joelle Brown.
