RC Man Pleads Guilty, But Mentally Ill, In New Year’s Day 2019 Standoff

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – A Rapid City Man accused of firing 42 shots out of his home during a New Year’s Day 2019 standoff with police has pleaded guilty, but mentally ill, to multiple charges.

Jordan Wounded Face could receive up 80 years in prison when he’s sentenced in April for aggravated assault on an officer with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle. He had been scheduled for trial later this month.

The 31-year old Wounded Face was initially looking at 50 counts, including attempted murder, after what began as a welfare check at his home turned into a 4-hour standoff with Rapid City police. No one was harmed during the incident.
