Regional West Medical Center Opens New CCU

SCOTTSBLUFF – Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff opened a new 12-room Critical Care Unit yesterday, the latest milestone in its strategic plan to update and upgrade the facility to expand services.

The newly renovated CCU on the second floor brings the hospital’s critical care capacity to 40.

Regional West Health Services President and CEO John Mentgen says the new unit features leading-edge technology, including several rooms designed for the care of patients being treated for problems related to being extremely overweight.

Mentgen says the expansion allows Regional West to provide additional critical care close to home for seriously sick or injured patients, while enabling their families to be nearby.

A planned open house prior to the unit going into operation had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 gathering and visitation restrictions.
