Retired FBI Agent Named New Nebraska Drug Enforcement Coordinator

    A retired 20-year veteran of the FBI is Nebraska’s new Drug Enforcement Coordinator. Monte Czaplewski of Grand Island will report to  Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson

     As Drug Enforcement Coordinator, Czaplewski is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing the state’s coordinated law enforcement response to drug cartels and drug trafficking organizations. 

     His emphasis will be on providing resources, training, and liaison to underserved, rural law enforcement agencies. 

      Czaplewski has extensive experience in dealing with drug trafficking, having been assigned to the FBI office in Laredo on the Texas-Mexico border and later the Grand Island office, where he was coordinator for both the Tri-Cities Federal Drug Task Force and the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force. 

      He was also part of the FBI SWAT – Special Weapons and Tactics – Team in Omaha, and deployed to Afghanistan as a member of the FBI’s Major Crimes Task Force.

      A two-term Special Agents Advisory Committee National Co-Chair, Czaplewski received several awards during his FBI career including the FBI Medal of Excellence and its Combat Theater Award.
