Funeral Services for 93-year old Richard Lee Holmquist of Chadron, NE, are Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:00 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron.
A memorial has been established for Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna, Ravenna Senior Center, and Raveena Golf Club. Donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Richard Lee Holmquist was born April 2, 1928, to Walter and Pearl (Olson) Holmquist at rural Wausa, NE. He passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Chadron Community Hospital in Chadron.
Richard was baptized and confirmed at Mission Covenant Church in Wausa. He graduated from Wausa High School in 1945, and attended Wayne State College, in Wayne, NE.
Richard and Mary Ann Huttmann were united in marriage at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, NE., on May 11, 1952. They were blessed with two sons, Curtis Lee and Steven Craig.
They lived in Wausa for 5 years, where Richard worked in the construction business with two of his uncles, then lived in Plattsmouth, NE, and Fairfield, NE, where he was employed by Chicago Lumber Company.
They made their last move in 1963, coming to Ravenna where Richard became Assistant Manager at Chicago Lumber Company. He was named Manager in 1988 and retired December 31, 1993.
Upon retiring, he continued to golf, and enjoyed attending his five grandchildren’s activities throughout the state of Nebraska.
Richard served on the Ravenna Public Schools board of education, the Chamber of Commerce board, and the board at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Richard is survived by his two sons: Curtis (Mary) Holmquist of Chadron; and Steve (Lisa) Holmquist of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren: Dionne Holmquist of Chadron; Courtney (Craig) Stewart of Chadron; Collin (Alicia) Holmquist of Omaha, NE; Alec Holmquist of Boulder, CO, and Laurel (Miles) Grigsby of Overland Park, KS; and three great-grandchildren: Rocco Stewart of Chadron; and Rosie Holmquist and Wells Holmquist of Omaha.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and twin sisters, Ardis Claussen, and Arlis Koehler.
