Ricketts Proclaims Public Health Week In Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – This is National Public Health Week, with Govenor Pete Ricketts signing an official proclamation for Nebraska Monrday at his daily coronavirus news update.

Public Health Week is observed the first full week of every April, but virtually all of this year’s events nationwide have been postponed or cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ricketts said public health workers are more visible now than ever before with those in Nebraska working overtime to battle the virus and keep residents up-to-date while still meeting their normal goal of keeping residents healthy and informed about good hygiene.

Director Kim Engel of the Panhandle Public Health District, one of 19 such agencies across the state, says “this year, more than any year in living memory, National Public Health Week has meaning for every Nebraskan.”
