Road Projects Likely To Disrupt Hot Springs Traffic

HOT SPRINGS – Drivers in Hot Springs may be inconvenienced by a pair of road projects for the next month or so, one on the southwest side of the city and the other downtown.

Already underway is construction of an eastbound right-turn lane at the Hwy 18 Bypass junction with Hwy 71, while Friday is the start date for surface repair of a mile of Hwy 18 between the University Ave/Chicago St intersection and the intersection of University and the highway.

Simon Contractors of Rapid City plans to finish work on the $194,000 Bypass project by June 12th while Complete Concrete of Rapid City.expects to finish the $1.9-million surface repair project a week earlier. Both estimates depend in part on the weather.

Both companies are reminding drivers to be away of lane closures, flaggers, suddenly slowing and merging traffic, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane. There will also be a 12-foot width limit on the downtown project.
