The other Chadron School Board members are obviously pleased with the work of Tom Menke as their president; they unanimously elected him Monday to another 2-year term without discussion.
Menke, the second-longest serving current member of the board, was first elected president in 2017 and then again 2 years ago.
Elected board vice president was Maddie Nisch, elected to a full 4-year term in November after having been appointed to fill the remaining 2 years of a vacancy.
Chadron students got some good news last night when Superintendent Ginger Mayer said the lack of snow days in the first semester left comfortable with holding 3 staff-only days, one in each of the next 3 months and pairing with previously scheduled events.
The first is at the end of next week on the 22nd when Chadron High will be hosting its wrestling tournament using both the high school and middle school gyms. Mayer said not having students on campus will make preparation easier.
The second is Tues, Feb 16, which follows the President’s Day holiday when faculty and staff already have a formal in-service day.
The third is March 26, the day Chadron is hosting the Quiz Bowl – another event that Mayer says can be run more smoothly with students gone the full day.
