SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) – Western Nebraska Regional Airport Executive Director Raul Aguallo has been placed on paid administrative leave while an investigation is conducted into unspecified allegations.
The Scottsbluff airport authority board took the action after an executive session last week.
Board Chair Bob Unzicker told the Scottsbluff Star-Herald that it’s alleged Aguallo had airport employees do some work on his house on airport time.
Unzicker told Rural Radio News the allegations were made to Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman, who turned the investigation over to the Nebraska State Patrol because of his close ties to the airport and Aguallo.
Overman’s father, Don, was chairman of the airport board for more than 2 decades until his death last year.
Unzicker says the board will make a decision on Aguallo’s future after the State Patrol completes its investigation. Until then, airport assistant director Cheryl Clause will serve as interim director.
