Scottsbluff Man Killed Early Tues AM After Avoiding Road Closed Barrier And Hitting Parked Semi

Authorities say a Scottsbluff man was killed shortly after midnight Monday night when his pickup hit a parked semi on a street that was closed by damage from the weekend storm.

30-year old Andres Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says 21st Avenue had been closed south of 42nd Street so a utility pole knocked down by weekend winds could be replaced.

Sheriff Overman says Gutierrez was alone and southbound when he drove around the barriers blocking the street and hit the rear of the semi, which was parked on the closed street along with several pieces of construction equipment.

Overman says Gutierrez was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol and excessive speed are being investigated as contributing factors in the accident.

  1. Absolutely terrible research and reporting. The facts are your job and you have few if any correct in this story. You should feel ashamed for lying to the community and for not serving the truth for the family.
