SD House Sends Hemp Bill To Senate Posted by John Axtell Date: February 13, 2020 3 Views PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – The South Dakota House Tuesday passed a bill to legalize and regulate the growth, processing, and transportation of industrial hemp, the non-buzz inducing cousin of marijuana. House members didn’t even debate the bill as it passed on to the State Senate with a two-thirds majority. If the Senate also passes it with a two-thirds majority and Gov. Kristi Noem signs it into law, an emergency clause will put it into effect immediately. Noem has made it clear she doesn’t think industrial will be good for the state, but compromised this year and worked with lawmakers on this bill after vetoing a hemp bill last year after it passed both chambers.
