SD Light Plane Crashes Sunday, Kills 2

South Dakota authorities say two people died Sunday after their single-engine plane crashed north of Groton, about 170 miles northwest of Sioux Falls.

Brown County Coroner Michael Carlsen says one victim died at the scene and the other was pronounced dead at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Brown County Emergency Management director Scott Meints says the plane went down near the airport where the Groton Fly-in/Drive-in was held this weekend, adding that the crash was related to the air show.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
