SD Posts Single-Day Record For Most COVID-19 Recoveries, Biggest Drop In Active Cases

 The Tuesday COVID-19 numbers from the South Dakota Dept of Health contained a lot of good news including single-day records for recoveries and reduction in active cases as well as the lowest number of new cases in months.

       There were 416 new confirmed cases but 3,542 recoveries to drop the number of active cases by over 3,000 to 14,088 – the lowest in nearly a month. 

        547 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, occupying about 20% of the hospital beds in South Dakota and 53% of the ICU beds. Only about 17% of ICU beds are still available along with 39% of all hospital beds. 

     There were only 2 deaths reported Tuesday following a month that averaged nearly 20 per day. The state death toll is now 948 along with 75,391 total cases.
