
Saturday was the deadliest day yet in South Dakota for COVID-19 with state health officials reporting 53 new deaths.
That’s more than twice the number in any month until September’s 56, but continues a deadly 3 month run.
There were 202 deaths in October while November’s count is already 196. South Dakota has had 621 all together.
Health officials on Saturday also reported a near record for new coronavirus cases reported in a single day on Saturday at 1,680 but there were also 1,82 recoveries to put the number of active cases at 18,627 including 549 who are hospitalized.
The total number of confirmed cases is 60,600 with 44,814 recoveries. South Dakota remains #2 behind North Dakota in new cases per capita over the past 2 weeks at 2,014 per 100,000 residents.
