SD Sec Of State-Elect To Take Office A Month Early

Loading

South Dakota Secretary of State-elect Monae Johnson is taking office a month early.

Outgoing Secretary Steve Barnett has resigned to take a job in the private sector and Governor Kristi Noem has appointed Johnson to fill out the term.

Johnson ousted Barnett at the Republican Party state convention in June by promoting her vow to secure the state’s elections from possible fraud and hacking.

In South Dakota, the nominees for secretary of state are selected at party conventions and not by the primary election.
