South Dakota set another record for active cases of COVID-19 on Sunday with 4,248 including 232 who are hospitalized.
The state health department confirmed 432 new cases for a total of 24,418 and 276 recoveries, putting the total number of recoveries at 19,902. There were no new fatalities, leaving the death toll at 248.
South Dakota processed 1,756 coronavirus tests in the previous 24 hours with a positivity rate of 24.6% – 8 times the target level.
Figures compiled Saturday by The COVID Tracking Project rank South Dakota second in the country for the number of new cases per capita in the last two weeks.
The Wyoming Dept of Health on Sunday reported 131 new cases and just 62 more recoveries, pushing the number of active cases to 1,115.
Wyoming has had 5,546 cases, 53 deaths, and 4,378 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.
