The team finished in a tie for seventh, with a two-day score of 317-331-648, matching host Colorado State University-Pueblo exactly.“We had a really good first day,” said Head Women’s Golf Coach John Ritzen, “and we played well today, but had a bad last few holes. We were up two strokes on the sixth place team with three to play, and then we had a rough go at it. The record score from yesterday is going to be closer to our average, I think. We have a good group, with some good girls sitting at home, too, so it’s going to be interesting.”The Eagles were led on Tuesday by sophomore Alpine Hickstein’s 79, while newcomer Allison Acosta dropped six strokes to shoot 81. Four of the six CSC women started their second rounds off with a birdie in either their first or second holes, but the team as a whole was 15-over in its final three.Hickstein and freshmen Brooke Kramer and Kinsey Smith all completed the tournament among the top half of the field, tying for 13th, 23rd, and 35th, respectively, out of 75 contenders.In the statistical categories, Hickstein also tied for second in the field on par-five holes.Dixie State University, which led by five strokes after Monday’s round, was just good enough on Tuesday to preserve a one-stroke win over second-place Colorado Mesa University.
